Crushing, Big Time

After returning from Calirfonia, and being forced to forget about all means of relaxation, I am officially out of summer mode… and hopefully able to produce decent  blog posts once again.

I wouldn’t really call it being bored when the only things I had to do was shop and sun bath; but the lack of actual things to do made is really easy to decide upon my new annual shoe, and or sunglass crush for this season. I’m already obsessed. 

I had no idea i had this much love to go around.

How does one even begin to describe this? Its so interesting to look at, i would find myself staring.
I was unable to find a picture of my favourite version of this shoe, but let met describe it, and make sure you picture something beautiful.
It was similar to the one above, although the where it is black leather it was bright royal blue, soft, smooth leather.

These also came in a Grey-ish white color that was very nice.

Of course, leave it to Wang to make something so simple, so different.

Some might say the abundance of leather material on this shoe is unflattering, i just think it is awesome.

 Well, these are more of an attained love than an unrequited one, since i ACTUALLY bought these!!!

Even though wearing them is like stabbing daggers into my ankles, its so worth it.
I mean, you've got to break them in eventually.
I was so happy to find these because i have been looking for the perfect man-like yet feminine, pointed toe shoe with a buckle. And, well... these couldn't fit the description more perfectly!

Back at Last

After one of the greatest months of my life in Europe, I can sadly say I am back home; and not so pleased with the excitement of Toronto anymore, to say the least.

Well, I have actually been home for almost 3 weeks now, so I can only blame the absence of my posts on my brain refusing to leave summer mode.

I will tell all about Greece and Rome once I find enough blog-worthy pictures to actually create a decent post. Because as of now, out of the hundreds of pictures that were taken, they all appear to be just a tad too sloppy. Haha…

Since I have gotten back I have been interning at Flare Magazine for a couple weeks. Although it seems like my intern career there is lasting all of 30 seconds, it’s really interesting and I’m learning some really cool things about the magazines production.

I only have 3 days left until I’m done, and then off to California, the brain can go back on summer mode ;). The only downside is, I’ll be done interning before I even get the hang of it, but it’s better than nothing. Good experience.

And not to mention all the sick clothing I’ve been seeing.

Well, that uninteresting blog post is all my brain is capable of right now, so I apologize for being a bore. But look out for that hopefully not-too-sloppy post about Rome and Greece soon!

Summer Playlist

I figured since my trip to Europe is coming up in 8 days, its about time to make the ultimate summer playlist; in hopes that when i hear these songs later on in the year i'll instantly time warp back to being in Europe.
ah don't you love when that happens?
So i compiled 67 of my favourite songs at the moment to practically make a playlist that should be named 'perfection'.

Obviously it'd be ridiculously time consuming for me to post all 67 songs but i'll show you a few of my faves because they should probabblllyyyyyyyy be on your summer playlists too. oh yeaaa

1983...(a merman i should turn to be)
this 13 minute song is one of those most people wouldn't think to actually listen to. But these lyrics are mind blowing when you actually pay attention. he's telling such a strong, harsh story through powerful visuals and metaphors. one of my favourite lines is "without a scratch on our body we bid it farewell. starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile. Before our heads go under we take our last look at the killing noise, of the out of style." if you have the time i recommend reading the lyrics!

Santigold The Riots Gone.  this song is just sort of fun to listen to, the girls voice on top of the drumming sounds really good.

Home Phillip Phillips, winner of American Idol. i have to admit i have had the biggest crush on this guy for so long now! he is an AMAZING artist, its wild! not to mention, look at him...
This song written for him when he won the show is really nice and light, i'd consider it kinda of 'indie folk' which is a good genre if you ask me! although he's so talented i think he could do even better than the whole indie scene. Personally i think he could bring back some classic rock, but we'll have to see when his album comes out. Cannot wait.

U2 Miracle Drug. Sometimes i feel like U2 don't get enough recognition for how good they are! well at least amongst the people i know, they don't. this song vividly reminds me of when i was in elementary school.

Pink Floyd Another Brick In The Wall (part 1, 2, 3). The wall has been on repeat for me for a few weeks now, getting ready for the Roger Waters concert Saturday!!!

Dave Matthews Band Lie in Our Graves. My brother learned how to play this song really well on guitar, so i'm constantly hearing the acoustic version of this from down the hall, its always stuck in my head.

Bob Dylan Mr. Tambourine Man. This song is just fantastic, there is really not much more you can say about it!

Selah Sue has a great voice, its sorta jazzy i suppose, its hard to explain. this is that one song thats so easy to always listen to. This song is featured in a J Cole song and its really good too!

Norah Jones Don't Know Why. So relaxing, her voice is so pretty.

John Mayer My Stupid Mouth. i have this album on vinyl so i really like the entire thing, but this song specifically just has really interesting lyrics and i like the way it pauses at point and then resumes almost.

Amy Winehouse Valerie. Such a nice upbeat song, love Amy Winehouse.

The Beatles Oh Darling! This song will never get old. Well actually that applies for all Beatles songs.

SunglassStruck

For just a little bit too long now i have been raving about the beautiful Céline sunglasses.
My lack of decisiveness has dragged this buying process on for a few too many seasons, so thankfully my parents came in the middle of this situation and casually came home with the perfect pair, in the perfect size and the perfect color.... you know, apparently its that easy.

opening the case was pretty overwhelming in a backwards sort of way... i felt star stuck but i guess it was more like sunglass struck.
thats when you know...

well as if that wasn't enough, to my surprise, prior to that i opened another sunglass case from Dior. Just a pair of their traditional cat eyes but with red rims and fascia arms.
It was like an instant time warp back to the 50's. My Favourite.

So now i guess I'm pretty set for the summer and pretty damn content.
Time to hunt down the next prospect to become my new Sunglass-Crush.

Some Dave For You Thought?

First of all, summer is OFFICIAL. I have conquered the bane of my existence that is exams… I’ve only posted twice over the course of way to long, so I’m going to change that now that I have all this time on my hands.  Oh yeah, also, 18 more days until Europe… not really exciting or anything ya know..

Otherwise, last weekend one of my study breaks/ procrastination methods consisted of my friend and I going to the Dave Matthews concert. I mean considering I have only been looking forward to that for about 6 months now I was NOT about to let exams get in the way. Ew.

Because of how extremely incredible he is I feel compelled to gloat a little. Those of you who have never seen him in concert don’t know the meaning of an amazing performance yet. The ONLY way to describe his concerts is that its one big jam session. They’ll do a song followed by about 5 minutes of hard jamming. Its great.  

And my friend and I were those weird head banging people in the crowd that don’t know how to take a break. We sorta got a tad over excited (okay, over excited doesn’t begin to describe what was happening…) when he opened with “Big Eyed Fish” and continued to play those not-so-well-known but i-still-know-all-the-lyrics songs. Except grey street probably won award for the hardest jamming, all around.

I heard some really good tunes that I didn’t know before, give them a listen..

The song Can't Stop builds up so much tension throughout the song, with a super jazzy feeling and the lyrics "I'm like a junky for you" its kind of genius... if you ask me. 

His new song called Mercy hit that perfect cross between sad and pleasant. Its one of those songs that start playing and you can't help but to smile at the fact that its so easy on the ears. 

The other song was called Gaucho, i haven't over played this one AS much as the others but its time will come.. 

its just something about the simplicity of the lyrics "we gotta do much more than believe if we really wanna change things" that makes it so strong. 

You know, his writing ability amazes me at times. 

In With the New

So this post is verging on being about a month overdue, but first of all, I blame summative/exam period. Seriously some stressful shit… unintended alliteration.

Not to mention the internet neglects the existence of about half the stuff I bought! So I’m also lacking in pictures…yaya, excuses excuses.

BUT, I did get some awesome stuff if I do say so myself.

My Mom and I + Shoe Departments = really really hazardous. And I’m not saying that for dramatic effect, I’m starting to think there needs to be a law against it. well not actually though, because that would suck…

but anyways, I’m seeing a lot of medium-high heels, like the ‘Manolo’ look, with pointed toes. Which is a style that never went out but still should come back, you know? A lot of summery grays (with a sort of blue-ish undertone to them), if you’ve ever heard of such a thing. Yellow-y mustards and I even saw a lot of metallics. although I kept my distance from those; not feeling that just yet. But then again my mind changes at the speed of light.

Yea it was great in a extremely overwhelming sort of way. Every now and then I felt like crying was necessary for no apparent reason. Pretty awesome feeling. I’m not going to rant on anymore though because this is getting dangerously long and some visuals are very necessary right about now.

This is their best selling style right now, its pretty obvious why, id say.
So glad i finally got them, i have been admiring Rumi's (From Fashiontoast) similar style all year now.
Also, this is what i meant by the gray-ish blue. which probably makes you think I'm colour-blind, but i promise they're a lot brighter in real life!

this jacket also came in black and the most subtle light gray ever. it was really beautiful. except the very excited guy in the store reallllllly dug the white on me, so i went with it (and he was right)!
These are the best high pinned shoulders i have bought in a very long time.  

The detail of the back, and how it scoops up really high, is so interesting.
i think it would be really cool to find a way to wear this so your actual back shows.

So I'm still working on that birthday post, getting all the pictures and all that shabang.
Yaya, its pretty crucial shit, its quite the process.

In the meantime i figured I'd share an awesome song with you guys that sort of has been consuming the use of my ears for a while now...

But... strangely, i have to admit i prefer Fiona Apple's version over the original, and i really can't say that often.
Obviously Costello gets the credit for writing such beautifully tragic lyrics , But Fiona's Performance is... wow
Its like every verse she sings exposes more of her broken heart. its sad and wonderful all together.
She is so passionate and so intense, if you watch her eyes through the performance it seems any second she could explode.

this makes you clench you teeth and squeeze your fists so tight... with the anticipation of who knows what. absolutely anything.
Its really something.

"I want you. Since when were you so generous, and inarticulate?"-my favourite line of the song, and about every other line in the song is a runner up.

Its damn heavy, and so good.
