LG fashion week

Once again the greatest time of year comes around.. Toronto's LG  fashion week.

This year I'm working on attending more shows than i have in the past, although currently the amount of school work i have is just not doing me justice for that matter...

I managed to dedicate tonight to strictly choosing what i will be wearing to tomorrows show which i believe is Tosca Delfino. Which from my understanding is a swimwear line that i think will be fantastic to see on the runway.

I really don't know what i am going to wear. i made a shopping trip this weekend in attempt to find the perfect thing, yet nothing stood out.
Looks i am considering are a black sleek outfit ( i was thinking leather or sheer, or both) a bold chunky shoe and then top it off with some sort of fur asset, like a jacket or vest.
Hmmmm, so tricky

if anyone has input i would love for your comments.

...and yet i am still to decide on how i am going to wear my hair, makeup and accessorize...

Creepers

If you have never heard of them, it may strike you as a weird name for a style of shoes. This particular design has been around for quite a while now, and it seems to be starting to make its way back.
..Ahhh don't you just love when that happens? i know i do.

To name a few, this high platformed shoe has been shown in Prada, Burberry and Jeffrey Campbell collections. They are outstanding. So unique. They would look great paired with socks, either low bunched up socks, or thigh highs. As would they go well with tights, and anything else for that matter.
Just like i did with the Lita before i found my first pair, i am once again SEARCHING high and low for the perfect style in these shoes.
...i think i might have found it in the burberry collection, although its not the standard style of a creeper shoe, it still has the same effect and its absolutely STUNNING.

SUCH Chaotic Sanity. ;)

Jeffrey Campbell Creepers
The other Jeffrey Campbell creepers in this style come in numerous colours
some of them i find are a bit much, unless of course paired with the perfect outfit.
but these are the perfect colours.

A different style of Jeffrey Campbell creepers.
Just look at the platform on these, its INSANITY. yet amazing.

I don't have the most reassuring source as to who makes these,
but they are said to be free people. so lets go with that.

I apologize for this not being the greatest image, but i got it off of lookbook.nu so i couldn't get a larger size
these are the original Prada creepers, Jeffrey Campbell makes a similar pair with almost identical colours.

And lastly, below are my favourite creepers. Burberry. They don't have as much of an edgy look to them but i think they are extremely versatile and just absolutely stunning. You could pair them with practically anything.
I long to get these.

As aposed to just having a platform, these have a small heel as well, separated from the platform of the rest of the shoe.
I love this slightly altered style of Creepers.
Burberry also makes a shoe with the same shape as this one, but a different style.

Its getting chilly again....

Soooo, first of all i just want to apologize for having not blogged ALL summer. but i decided its been tooo long , time to get back on track!

Anyways, despite the fact it was a miraculously warm weekend, giving us one last chance to bring out the shorts.. it is almost the middle of october already! meaning.. its most definitely fall. we can all brace for the cold because it should be back soon enough.
...and although i'm sure for the most part we hate to see the summer go... the cold weather is also a signal to bring out the best (in my opinion) wardrobe of the year. As i have mentioned before, dressing for fall is my favourite!

Now, before you decide to go and whip out your 'Can-Goo', Black leggings and uggs, Here are some other more.. unique styles to go for this fall.

Lately, i have been loving the "furry" look. whether its a fuzzy looking cardigan to a fur vest, it looks awesome.

All of the following images are from the website Shop Nasty Gal.
Eddie Faux Fur Coat

Sonia Shag Jacket

Abbey Faux Fur Coat

Velvet is also an amazing material to be wearing this fall! In particular, velvet pants are super unique, and look amazing.
Velvet Skinny Jeans-Wine
*this colour is amazing, for any piece. It stands out but not too flashy.

Velvet Skinny Jeans- Navy
These skirts, (or others similar) are one of my favourite pieces over everything, if i had the height and could pull them off, i would live in them. Anyways.. if your willing to pull them off then try the Asymmetric/ Unevenly cut skirt, (i guess is what i will call them) i want to refer to them as maxi skirts but i guess there not really considered so.

Asymmetric Chiffon skirt- Blush
i also love this blush colour. its great for sheer button ups.

Asymmetric chiffon skirt- polka dot
I'm not yet a big fan of polka dots, but for this skirt i just find that
with the mix between the colours and fabric, it works really nicely.

Pleated Chiffon Skirt.
i wouldn't say this falls under the same category as the other skirts,
but i love this one as well.  i think pleated skirts like this are great.
they also look good at a longer length or even maxi.

Spring Stuff!

Hey guys!
sorry i haven't been writing lately, school has been pretty hectic and i haven't had the time!

But anyways, almost 2 weeks ago was my birthday (May 2nd)! and i decided...well, instead of going out and looking for things i like, why not just order the things i ALREADY know i like, offline. My favourite online website Shop Nasty Gal is honestly, filled with clothing that make me speechless. I have mentioned it many times before in previous blog posts, so i will try my best not to rant anymore. They had just gotten a new batch of spring clothing in, that i could NOT wait to get my hands on.
Well what better a reason to splurge on clothing then a birthday... am i right? ;)

My parents agreed to letting me chose a bunch of things i liked and ordering them for my birthday present. Devastatingly, my favourite lilac Lita's were out of stock so i couldn't order them.. but thats alright because all the other pieces i got made up for that!

All these clothes are soooo versatile. They can be casual or they could be dressed up. You could whip them on to go just about anywhere, and it will look like you spent years trying to put you're outfit together. They are so simple yet so different.

Now, i would normally go on with explaining these items to you, but instead i will just post pictures so you get a better idea, they speak for themselves!

high wasted jeans. Pretty color for spring :)
can be worn WHENEVER
'Cheap monday, Second skin jeans. super light blue'

'Denim chap leggings'
Very unique
'Cross bow tank- Sky blue'

Plain and delicate looking. Surprising in the back.
Out of the ordinary, pretty color for spring.
'NTICE jaws track shorts'
could wear them anywhere. simple yet different.
Speaks for itself, i believe.
'Bound Back Romper'
'Eryn Brinie cuffed sweat shorts'
You could wear these with so many different things.
yet they are so unique looking.
'Holy stud cut off shorts'
SO simple and SOOO VERY comfortable
yet you could wear these out with heels
Typically, i got these lace thigh highs. I've been looking for a good pair and these are them! I know they aren't technically spring/ summer... but who said we can't make it work, right? ;)

George Brown Fashion Show- Emerge

What better way to start of the weekend than with a fashion show! About a month ago my friends Emma Julia and I attended a LG fashion week fashion show which was the display of established designers clothing lines. We saw the Comrags show.
After this experience we were fortunate enough to have had an article in the Toronto Star featuring our blogs and "fresh young teens" attending fashions shows at our age!
The day the article got printed was for sure one of the most exciting days of my entire life! Words can't even describe how it felt to be recognized for taking part in something that i love.
About a week later i got an email from a George Brown student who told me her teacher had seen the article and wondered if she could get in touch with us 3 girls and invite them to their fashion show. Again we were all soooo happy to get this invitation and we took it as a great compliment that they were interested to have us attend their show!
The fashion show is for the college students who have designed pieces and are presenting them in their end of the year fashion show. It was really interesting to watch this show because these designers all produced such different and interesting pieces. The show was well put together yet still had a playful vibe to it. Amongst 9 different 'scenes' to this show here are some of the different items being modeled.

Scene 1: BRIGHTS
On the left, Designer- Sheila Jobin.
The long dress detailed with beading and fringe gives a bohemian feel to it. Looks great on the model although it would be hard for a wide range of women to pull of the length and the neckline.
On the right, Designer- Jessica West. With the draped left sleeve and the thick shoulder strap on the right this dress is very flattering and a very practical design. The color is great for dark skin tones and the belt suites it well.

Designer- Stacia Swartz.  Grey strapless dress with orange draped accent. This style is very unique and interesting yet still has a elegant vibe to it. With the material draped down the front it is nothing like i have seen before. It is not practical for any typical occasion but if you're willing to be bold this dress is a beautiful choice.

Designer- Danielle Fleming. Personally not a favorite interesting colors but not what i would look for. The material from a far looks too stiff and the fit does not compliment the figure. although the vibrance of this piece stand out and it was interesting watching it be modeled.

Scene 2: DAYWEAR

On the left. Designer- Amanda Nichol
(on the right) Definitely one of my favorite pieces of the night. incase you can't tell the zigzag dress with a draw string is paired with a peach blazer. Perfect for any occasion in the spring/summer. the peach blazer is well cut and has a draped neckline. overall a flattering outfit.

Designer- Jayane Charles. Another on of my favorites.  High waisted lilac purple shorts with cream lace tank. The neckline of the tank gives a classier look to the piece and it flattering on her figure as do the high waisted shorts lengthen her legs.

Designer- Boram Lee. Another great piece. Deep aqua jacket uniquely cut and nicely fitting to compliment her body. the button is placed high up and there are seems down the front of the jacket, nice details to make this jacket unique. paired with a tight fitting pastel shirt underneath.

Scene 3: CREAM, BLACK & SILVER

Unable to identify the name of this designer. A very unique jacket well pinned around the neckline and shoulders.

Scene 5: COATS

Designer - Lesley McIntee. The long draped dress is flattering to a tall figure and and the gold belt is a great accent to bring out the color of these pieces. Paired with this military style jacket looks great. Together this outfit has a mysterious sexy feel to it.

NEW LITA'S- 'spring' out!

Jeffrey Campbell, among his already numerous different colors and styles of Lita's has managed once again, to come out with something new and outstanding.  What better way to start this spring than with some great new shoes! Campbell came out with a bundle of new colored Lita's that will pop during this season. To name a few, picture this fantastic shoe in; Lilac suede, Pink Glitter (which for me is making its way into a favourite from the glitter collection) and a stunning blue velvet. You can't miss them.
Better yet... my birthday is around the corner, May 2nd... better start nagging on these websites (again) to make sure they'll have some left for me! For those of you with spring birthdays, what better present to ask for then a pair of NEW LITA'S. Or you know.... getting them for no particular reason is always good too!
You must take a look at these. I put a picture of a few of the colors below, and for the rest of them check out this website:http://www.solestruck.com/jeffrey-campbell-lita-gold-glitter/index.html

Ps. Another one of my favourite designs by Jeffrey Campbell, the 'Mary Roks' style, as well came out with new stunning spring colors.

Blue velvet, Lita

Also, heres just a quick look at a new 'Mary Roks' color.

Mens clothing, opinions?

As i return from a wonderful shopping filled day, it got me thinking about things... When it comes to fashion i happen to be a very opinionated person, but for a SHOCKING first time, I'm not so sure what to make of this.
Wondering what I'm talking about? Well heres a little overview.

sssoooooo, today is my brothers birthday meaning i was on the prowl for a gift. I have to make it a good one because its a preeeeeeettty big milestone in his life (although i think that about ever year...). I decided to go down to Queen and Ossington, to go hit up some of my favorite stores. As i am walking the wondrous streets of downtown Toronto, i am coming across many different well dressed men. Some wearing the tight dark jeans with their doc martin black boots and a well fitted t-shirt. Others passing by in their slightly cropped pants with a nice blazer and sexy mysterious reading glasses (you know the ones I'm referring to??) and i thought to myself, 'you know, you really never see men this well dressed anywhere else in the city'. Typically you would find your average guy in some frumpy old abrecrombie shirt and a pair of terribly OVER WARN basketball shorts. Honestly, just because you have them in black and yellow and EVERY shade in between, doesn't make it okay to wear them for weeks on end!!!

So many average guys don't care or know the first thing about what they are wearing, so i think someone should defffinitlyyyy take on the responsibility to educate these cave men!!!

The part that phases me though, is we cannot wish for every man out there to dress as if they are an Alexander Wang model, so i was wondering: What is the line between 'dull clueless cave men' and 'well dressed model-Esc mysterious men'.

I mean what are they going to do then, start mixing those wretched shorts with a nice blazer? THAT WOULD JUST BE WORSE!!! And this is where i am stumped, i don't know what to make of this situation. I know what i LIKE to see, but what i don't know is whats realistic? What is a subtle look that is still bearable on the eyes?!

If your wondering what looks i like, heres a collection for men by Alexander Wang.
